Macro Photography of Beetles - Part 2

As you can see so far from Part 1, this wasn't really a properly planned project.  It was just an idea that snowballed along, with new features being added on when the time or thought arrived.

Over the course of a few weeks, different ideas have come and gone, along with bits and pieces of the rig. Here is the shaft holder, mounted underneath the access hole that I rigged up this afternoon. This holds the object platform steady in place without wobbling back and forth. It removable, just in case I want to insert something different:

Assembling the lower stage rig.  This configuration allows me to experiment with various servo placement positions.  I was concerned that my servo would have a fine enough movement, hence the leaver.

Assembling the Lower Stage Rig

Here the lower side of the rig has been just about completed.  Each leg has an inverted bolt placed in, so that I can adjust the rig on uneven surfaces:

The inside of the LED housing has been painted in a matt white.  Chrysalis on 2mm graph paper on a raised stage with the LED Array switched on.   If needed, it can easily sit right up against the lens:

Well, that's about it for the woodworking side of the rig.  Part 3 will deal with the electronics and running some tests.
